Auditing Child Restraint Users?
Child restraint use requires regular reviewing (NB: daily at a minimum) To check that child restraints are being used correctly and safely installed to the vehicle ACRI has developed several training programs to assist all frontline carers to operate effectively.
For organisations who can not provide training programs for individual carers the ACRI has also developed an 'On line FDC Audit' process. Any organisations interested in ensuring their carers and or staff are up to date with safe car travel and child restraint attitudes and practices. These audits also keep the frontline person in touch with where their responsibilties lie.
The FDC Audit service can be trialed from this link http://acriaudits.com/survey/index.php?sid=38555
Important points:
- The safe installation is at risk everyday by inadvertant tampering from other passengers.
- Children grow constantly, so you need to ensure that the child or children you are caring for are safe in your car. You may not be using an appropriate product or it may no longer be configured correctly for that particular child.
- Does the product work properly, is its harness adjuster operating reliably? Is the crutch buckle operating as it should?
If you have any doubt to the safety of any aspect of your car travelling activities, seek help. Check with your supervisor or call a professional who can assist with an appropriate solution. |
